Music video Filming blog

When it came to filming, we made sure to be extra careful with timing and placement. We did this because we did not want there to be any inconsistencies when it came to the music video. We did not want the music to be out of sync with the characters’ actions. We also did not want the items and characters to be in different places in different scenes. These inconsistencies would cause the music video to be flawed and imperfect. In order to get rid of these problems, we memorized placement of every character in each scene. Every character was accounted for and was placed in the same place as the previous scene when it came to dancing scenes. We also played the music in the background in order to know when certain actions should be performed. This was done to match the music worth the characters’ actions.

In my opinion my group and I choreographed our dancing scenes perfectly. We all decided on a dance that we would perform for the song’s lyrics. We had to practice the dance before performing it live. It took a while to decide on the dancing moves for certain lyrics. This is because some of my group mates thought certain dance moves were unnecessary and needed to be replaced. But, after a while, we compromised and created one, synchronized dance. This was done to represent the link between everyone dancing. No one was doing their own thing. We also decided to mouth the lyrics of the song in order to gain a better understanding on the timing.

We had to reshoot many scenes because they did not come out well. The reshooting process was tedious. But, through all of the reshoots, the music video turned out well. Overall, I feel like the filming process was difficult yet entertaining. It was difficult because we had to memorize certain positions of characters in order for the film to make sense. It also took us time to create a dance that went along with the song we had chosen. In the end, the film came out very good.
